MAN IN THE PURPLE PANTS

One thing I’ve learned at NYFW, every man should own a pair of coloured pants. Just to break it up a bit (blue jeans and dark dress pants) and have something fun to wear.

MAN WITH BAGS

Another obvious trend I’ve noticed during NYFW, anything military. I’m a bag man myself and the more you can carry, the better.

I had the privilege of attending my first Marc Jacobs show yesterday, Marc by Marc Jacobs at the Armory. The menswear (edited in the video above) was sophisticated and chic but still very youthful, playing with different fabrics and textures. Redwood, burnt orange and shades of brown seemed to be the key colours for the F/W 2011 season. I loved it! Check it out above and share your thoughts below.

ZACK IN SOHO

Zack was spotted in Soho on his way to work on a Sunday afternoon. What really stood out to me was how he layered his canvas army coat with a denim/wool vest, great contrast. And of course his navy blue round fedora with baby blue ribbon, classic.

MAN IN MILITARY BOOTS

One of the big trends I’ve noticed on the streets of New York this winter are the military boot. Nick Wooster, Men’s Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus (not pictured) noted at dinner the other night that they’ll be the shoe for Fall/Winter 2011. Nice to see some interesting shoes on men and not the typical.

There’s nothing like a burst of colour paired with a darker outfit to bring it to life.

MAN IN LAYERS

One of the many perks of coming to NYFW is that it’s winter in New York…which means winter clothes! I’ve been very inspired with the various looks I’ve been coming across, in particular, this man and his layers. The combination is perfectly thrown together, playing with the different patterns and fabrics. Looking forward to “winter” in Sydney already…

PATRIK ERVELL

I was finally able to attend my first menswear show at NYFW today at Milk Studios and it did not disappoint! It was of none other than Patrik Ervell, New York based menswear designer. The collection had an almost futuristic sailor feel to it, check it out for yourself after the jump.

Meanwhile, the show was littered with well dressed men but two that caught my eye were Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist and Michael Stipe of R.E.M. I managed to capture a little moment between them before the show, as I felt they were a bit unapproachable…well at least for me. I loved the little cassette tape necklace Mr. Stipe was wearing, great little personal detail.

PHIL IN CHELSEA

Phil of Street Peeper was one of many street style photographers spotted at the IFB Conference this week in New York. I always find it inspiring running into other street style photographers and observing how they work with their finds. I found that he was very fun, yet relaxed, a lot like his personal style.
